We, the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), convey our warmest solidarity greetings to the people of Korea in celebrating the first anniversary of the historic Panmunjom Declaration.
For decades, the Koreans in the north and south have lived in a divided peninsula. The Panmunjom Declaration is a beacon of hope for the 80 million Koreanåçs and for the people in the world wanting to see a peaceful reunification of Korea and the end of the war that has divided the nation.
Peace, prosperity and reunification are objectives desired by the Korean people. The concrete agreements in the Panmunjom declaration shall pave the way for realizing these objectives that have long been blocked by US imperialism.
The peace-loving Filipino people are with the Korean people in celebrating the Panmunjom Declaration that officially ended the war of the north and south and set the path for reunification. We are confident that the implementation of steps agreed upon by the north and south will result in the achievement of the visions of the declaration.
We applaud most the goal for independent reunification as this asserts the sovereignty of the Korean people in charting their future. A divided Korea has only benefited foreign powers and not the Korean people.
We, in the NDFP, are in full support of a reunification based and driven by the people themselves. This is beneficial to the Korean people as well as to the peoples of East Asia and the rest of the world.
We look forward to the actualization of the Panmunjom Declaration. Moreover, we look forward to the day when peace, prosperity and reunification is finally achieved and celebrated in Korea.
Long live the Korean people!
Long live international solidarity!
