The punitive action made by NPA against a notorious hitman in Quezon appears to be a reminder to the newly appointed police chief Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar—”para ipakita ang problema ng kriminalidad sa sariling lalawigan ng Heneral at sino ang dapat na target ng pulis,” according to the NPA statement.
Ka Cleo del Mundo of NPA-Quezon challenged PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar to choose a different path from the bloody stint of General Debold Sinas whom several groups accused of arresting and killing innocent civilians while the known criminals remain scot-free.
A sparrow unit of the New People’s Army gunned down Ronie Cabania, leader of the infamous Haliging Bakal syndicate on June 13, 7:45 AM.
The NPA listed the criminal acts of Cabania including his killing spree as a hitman. He was imprisoned in 2017 for a murder case.
The red army also identified Cabania as a big time drug pusher in the town of Calauag, a gun runner for other armed syndicates and politicians, and a carnapper to which his operations reached Cavite province. Cabania is believed to be a known padrino of police officers in Lopez, Calauag and Lucena City.
Del Mundo also mentioned Cabania’s extortion activities by using the name of CPP-NPA to collect money from businesses and politicians in Quezon.
