NDF-EV condemns cold-blooded murder of former university president, warns against false-flag ops vs. NPA
The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas condemns the cold-blooded murder of former University of Eastern Philippines president Dr. Rolando Delorino last June. We belatedly express our condolences to his family and the rest of the UEP community. This brutal act should be properly investigated and its perpetrators must be brought to swift justice.
The NDF-EV vehemently denies news reports which link the New People’s Army to Delorino’s murder. None other than the NTF-ELCAC and the Duterte regime are responsible for spreading this poisonous lie. Previously, the murders of urban poor leader Carlito Badion and Calbayog City mayor Ronaldo Aquino were also falsely tagged on the NPA.
We call attention to and condemn this malicious attempt to use the NPA as scapegoat to carry out more vicious attacks against red-tagged activists, progressives, and members of the opposition. We urge the public to condemn these false-flag operations by the NTF-ELCAC and the Duterte regime against the NPA, and to reject all attempts to use this as justification for an outright declaration of martial law, to order the mass arrest and crackdown against progressive and democratic forces including the broad opposition, and to declare false victory against the revolutionary movement.
Delorino is the second member of the UEP to be brutally killed in recent years, following university professor Josemaria Cui who was killed in cold blood in front of his students. Recently, the RTF-ELCAC has intensified its red-tagging, harassment and surrender campaign among the UEP students and professors.#
